The Concept

Exploration for New Values through Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue

The General Conference of UNESCO adopted, at its 32nd session (2003), the holding of a double-purpose event targeting youth and religious leaders from the SAARC region to be held in Auroville, Tamil Nadu (South India), within the framework of the Organisation's Inter-religious dialogue programme. The project is a collaboration between the UNESCO office in New Delhi and the Auroville Foundation and will be held from 21 to 28 February 2005.

This international event will focus on the following themes:

Exploration for new values in:
       1. Spirituality and Religion
       2. Spirituality and Society
       3. Education, Art and Culture
       4. Science and Integral Development
  
The main aim of the event is to focus, through the above mentioned themes, on the relationships of religions and how to overcome the conflicts of the region and the role of these communities in building peaceful, tolerant, multi-cultural societies.
