Here you will have the opportunity to participate in various activities ranging from Kolam, traditional floor drawing, drumming, and folk dance to the delights of South Indian cooking. We will close the afternoon by enjoying a traditional Tamil meal together cooked over a wood fire.

Bio Mohanam Cultural Center, a unit of Auroville Village Action Trust, has been working in one of the local villages around Auroville since 2001 in aspects of Tamil Heritage, Creative Education and Performing Arts and Crafts. It was initiated by a very active youth group, in collaboration with social art activist Aurelio, to create a bridge between the indigenous culture of the villages and the ideals of Auroville. The traditional setting of the house and gardens offers a community learning place with a creche/kindergarten during the day, tuition for school-going children in the evenings, arts classes for youth on the weekends, and seminars and workshops for parents and elders. The young staff and volunteers of the center offer their various skills to visitors, and participation in the ongoing weekend classes in drawing, clay work and dance is encouraged. |
