Description
Are you curious to understand more about life in the villages around Auroville?

  1. How village is structured?
  2. What are the festivals and ceremonies that are celebrated?
  3. How is the family organized?
  4. What is unique about Tamil culture?

Youth from Edayanchavadi village connected to the Thamarai Learning and Cultural centre, have created an engaging and interactive one-day programme that will give a deeper look into all aspects of village life. This activity is part of Thamarai’s overall programme to strengthen bridges of understanding and relationships between Edayanchavadi and Auroville.
Throughout the morning, a presentation and discussion will address the above topics. Participants will take a guided walk through the village to have a look at the main temple, houses and the “Kolam” or village tank. A traditional healthy South Indian meal prepared by the women from the village will be served for lunch and afterwards  a cultural programme and a trip to Irumbai Temple – a local temple of great significance.
